The terminals at Barcelona El Prat Airport
The airport has two terminals, T1 and T2, and the operator's own pages put the train station in T2 and the car hire desks in each of the two. T2 is split in three, T2A, T2B and T2C, and each of them has its own taxi rank at the arrivals.
A free shuttle bus runs between the terminals 24 hours a day, so a family that lands at one terminal and leaves from the other does not need to pay for a taxi.
Getting to and from Barcelona El Prat Airport
The R2 North line of Rodalies de Catalunya runs between Maanet-Massanes and the airport, and the station is on floor 0 of Terminal T2. The bus services from T1 and from T2 run to the city centre of Barcelona and stop at strategic points in the city.
The Sagales Airport Line company links the airport with Girona and Figueres on line 602, and with the towns of Maresme and Blanes on line 603. The taxi ranks are opposite the arrivals areas of T1, of the Barcelona-Madrid shuttle and of T2A, T2B and T2C, and every one of them works with and without a reservation.
What happens when you arrive at BCN
Keep your passport and any form you filled in on the plane with you the whole way, from the aircraft door to the exit.
On an international arrival you clear immigration, collect your bags and pass through customs, and the airport lends out luggage trolleys, so you do not have to carry the bags and the car seat of a child at the same time.
Barcelona El Prat Airport with children
The airport lends out luggage trolleys fitted with a maxi-cosi or a baby seat, free of charge and as long as there are some available. That solves the walk from the plane to the hall with a small child, a car seat and the bags of the family.
There are spaces for families with babies in both terminals: two breastfeeding rooms with comfortable seats, a play area, changing tables and microwaves. And at the security checkpoints of the two terminals there are priority lanes for passengers with children, free of charge.
Plan your stop at Barcelona El Prat Airport
Terminals, airlines and arrival procedures change, so check with the airline and the airport's own site before you travel. And check with the embassy or consulate about the documents your family needs for the entry rules of every country on your route.
