The terminals at Dublin Airport
Dublin Airport has two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and the airport's own page with the airlines lists every carrier with the terminal it uses and with the times its check-in and its bag drop open.
In Terminal 1 fly Aegean Airlines, Air Baltic, Air Canada, Air France, Air Transat, China Eastern, Croatia Airlines, Dan Air and Egypt Air, and in Terminal 2 fly Aer Lingus, American Airlines, British Airways, Delta and Emerald Airlines. The bag drop opens two to four hours before the flight, depending on the airline, and Aer Lingus and Emerald Airlines also take the bags the evening before.
Getting to and from Dublin Airport
The bus and coach companies pick up and drop off in the bus zones around the airport, and there is one zone in Terminal 1 and another one in Terminal 2, each with its own map. The routes go to the city centre of Dublin and also to Galway, Cork, Sligo, Donegal, Belfast, Wexford and Waterford.
The taxis are ready and waiting 24 hours a day outside both terminals, and the airport also has the car hire, the cycling and the walking routes for the last stretch, and the hotels that are a few minutes from the terminal.
What happens when you arrive at Dublin Airport
The TFI Leap Card, the ticket of the bus, train and tram network of Dublin, can be bought in the convenience stores of both terminals, in Terminal 1 Arrivals and in Terminal 2 Arrivals, so you can buy it before you go to the bus zone.
The airport also has an interactive map of the campus, with the gates, the shops and the services marked, so you can find your way in a few taps before you walk to your gate.
Dublin Airport with children
The airport suggests arriving two hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before a long-haul one, and if you are checking in a bag or a buggy, it asks you to look at the bag drop times of your airline. The advice is also to find out if you can take the buggy on board or if you have to check it in.
Keep what the baby needs for the flight in the carry-on bag, and at the security check you can ask for a special tray for the liquids, so the medicine and the baby formula can go through even if they are more than 100 millilitres.
Plan your stop at Dublin Airport
Check with the airline and with the airport's own site before you travel: the terminals, the bag drop times and the arrival procedures change. And check with the embassy or the consulate about the documents your family needs for the entry rules of every country on your route.
