The terminals at Panama City Airport
Tocumen International Airport has two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and the services are available at both. The airport operates 365 days a year and its passenger information line is open around the clock.
A free internal shuttle connects Terminal 1 with Terminal 2 and back, every day from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. It leaves from between gates 104 and 105 in Terminal 1, and from the stairs in front of gate 209 in Terminal 2.
Getting to and from Panama City Airport
A second free shuttle, the external one, connects Terminal 1 with Terminal 2 and with the metro station stop, every day from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. The airport has a direct entrance to the Metro and the MetroBús from the exit of the terminal.
The official airport taxi runs 24 hours a day with regulated fares, can be booked online and covers the whole city, and you can book it in advance.
What happens when you arrive at PTY
Keep your passport and any form you filled in on the plane with you the whole way, from the aircraft door to the exit.
The airport's own passenger guide has a section for each stage of the trip, and an interactive map to find the shops, the services and the boarding gates in both terminals.
Panama City Airport with children
Tocumen has nursing rooms and changing tables, and areas designed to make family travel more comfortable, so the airport itself is a good place to change a small child before you leave.
There are also medical assistance points inside the terminals, and a sensory room, a quiet adapted space for passengers who need a calm moment.
Plan your stop at Panama City Airport
Check with the airline and the airport's own site before you travel: the terminals, the airlines and the arrival procedures change. And check with the embassy or consulate about the documents your family needs for the entry rules of every country on your route.
