The terminals at Punta Cana Airport

The airport publishes the maps of both of its passenger terminals, Terminal A and Terminal B, and the car hire offices sit in the two of them. The airport is owned and operated by Corporacion Aeroportuaria del Este, and it is a private international airport.

The airport also publishes which airlines fly from each terminal, in a list that changes as the airlines move, so check the list before you travel and look for your terminal on the ticket.

Getting to and from Punta Cana Airport

The car hire desks are on site in Terminal A and Terminal B, with Avis, Hertz, Dollar, Budget and Europcar, and taxis are available at the airport as well. A complimentary shuttle bus serves the guests of the Four Points by Sheraton hotel.

Most of the hotels in Punta Cana are in the resort area, so families usually agree the ride with the hotel or the tour operator before the flight lands, and keep the contact to hand for the arrival.

What happens when you arrive at PUJ

Keep your passport and any form you filled in on the plane with you the whole way, from the aircraft door to the exit.

On an international arrival you clear immigration, collect your bags and pass through customs, and the airport has automated immigration gates in the arrivals halls of both terminals. The tour operator desks are at the end of the customs process.

Punta Cana Airport with children

Each terminal has a maternity lounge: in Terminal A it is in the departure area next to the shopping area, and in Terminal B it is near the gates 27 to 33 and in the VIP lounge of Terminal B2. The mother registers at the information counter of the international arrivals.

A passenger travelling with their baby may pass the security check with formula, breast milk and baby lotion, and the airport says each container can be up to 100 ml. Keep the children's documents in your carry-on bag, and use the priority line for families with children under three.

Plan your stop at Punta Cana Airport

Terminals, airlines and arrival procedures change, so check with the airline and the airport's own site before you travel. And check with the embassy or consulate about the documents your family needs for the entry rules of every country on your route.
