The terminals at Santiago Airport

Arturo Merino Benitez airport has two terminals:

  • Terminal 1 handles the domestic flights.
  • Terminal 2 handles the international flights.

Terminal 2 has four piers and 45 boarding gates, 76 in all, and 96 self check-in kiosks. The same project remodelled Terminal 1, which is now the domestic terminal of the airport.

Getting to and from Santiago Airport

The airport is on the Autopista Central in the commune of Pudahuel, south of the city, and the way in is by road. The airport's own site covers the parking, the buses and the transfer services for each terminal.

What happens when you arrive at SCL

Keep your passport and any form you filled in on the plane with you the whole way, from the aircraft door to the exit.

On an international flight, follow the signs to immigration, then collect your bags and pass through customs. On a domestic flight, the arrival procedure is shorter, but the same document rule applies.

Santiago Airport with children

The Ministry of Public Works asked passengers on international flights to arrive four hours before departure when the new Terminal 2 opened, so plan the day with the family and leave that margin.

Keep the children's documents and a snack in your carry-on bag, and use the 96 self check-in kiosks of Terminal 2 only if you can manage the queue with a stroller.

Plan your stop at Santiago Airport

Terminals, airlines and arrival procedures change, so check with the airline and the airport's own site before you travel. And check with the embassy or consulate about the documents your family needs for the entry rules of every country on your route.
