Getting to and from Vienna Airport
The City Airport Train, the CAT, is the fastest way into the city: it runs non-stop from the airport to the Wien Mitte transport hub in 21 minutes, with no stops on the way, and it is on the U3 and U4 lines, so you can change there for the rest of the city.
The train comes every 12 minutes between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. and every 15 minutes outside those hours, and the whole service runs daily between 05:30 and 23:37. The stop is a ten-minute walk from St Stephen's Cathedral, and you can reach it by tram, underground, bus or taxi.
What happens when you arrive at Vienna Airport
The airport's airlines page tells you the check-in options of every carrier: by SMS, on the internet, at the check-in machine in the terminal or in person at the counter, and some of them even the evening before, so you can save the queue of the morning.
The page also asks you to watch the flight display monitors at the airport for the latest information, because the desks and the terminals can change.
Vienna Airport with children
There is a family security check where you can go through with a borrowed pram, so you do not have to fold the stroller at the checkpoint, and the Family Fun Gate has the games and the fun for the children while the plane passes by the window.
The Family Services of the airport are there for the big ones and the small ones, and the airport has family restaurants with special children's menus, so the children can eat before the flight. Keep the passports and the children's documents in your carry-on bag, not in the checked luggage.
Plan your stop at Vienna Airport
Check with the airline and with the airport's own site before you travel: the terminals, the check-in desks and the arrival procedures change, and the airport asks you to look at the flight display monitors on the day. And check with the embassy or the consulate about the documents your family needs for the entry rules of every country on your route.
