The terminals at Toronto Pearson Airport
Pearson has two passenger terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, and the airport's own airlines page says which carrier uses which one. Air Canada, Air China, Air India, Avianca, Copa Airlines, Egyptair, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Etihad, EVA Air, ITA Airways, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Royal Air Maroc, Swiss, TAP Air Portugal, Turkish Airlines and United Airlines fly from Terminal 1.
Terminal 3 is where the other carriers are: Aer Lingus, Air France, Air Serbia, Air Transat, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Arajet, Azores Airlines, British Airways, Caribbean Airlines, Cathay Pacific, China Eastern, China Southern, Delta, Icelandair, KLM, Korean Air, Philippine Airlines, Porter Airlines, Qatar Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Westjet, together with the Canadian regional airlines.
Getting to and from Toronto Pearson Airport
The Union Pearson Express, the UP Express, runs from the airport to Union Station in downtown Toronto in 25 minutes. The free Terminal Link train takes passengers between the Viscount station and the terminals, so you never have to leave the airport complex to change terminals.
The airport buses travel to Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Hamilton and beyond. Taxis and limousines wait at the airport, and you can arrange a car, a limo or a bus before you arrive.
The car rental companies have their counters on site, among them Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National and Alamo, and the ride-share services pick you up at either terminal.
What happens when you arrive at Toronto Pearson Airport
The ride-share pick-up is at either terminal, so the car waits at the one you land in, and the taxi and limo stands are at the terminals too. Around the airport there are also the off-airport parking shuttles, which serve both terminals and the Viscount station.
The airport's own pages show the departures, the arrivals and the connections, and the airlines page shows, for every carrier, the terminal it uses and the destinations it flies to, so you can check your flight before you travel.
Toronto Pearson Airport with children
The Terminal Link train is free and fully accessible, so the family can move between the terminals and the Viscount station without paying, and the taxis, the ride-share pick-up and the car rental counters are all at the terminal, a short walk from the arrivals.
Keep the passports and the children's documents in your carry-on bag, not in the checked luggage, so they are with you when you land. The hotels around the airport also run their own shuttle services, which is the easy way to reach your room with the family.
Plan your stop at Toronto Pearson Airport
Check with the airline and with the airport's own site before you travel: the terminals, the airlines and the arrival procedures change, and more than 50 airlines serve more than 160 destinations from Pearson. And check with the embassy or the consulate about the documents your family needs for the entry rules of every country on your route.
