The terminals at Copenhagen Airport

Copenhagen Airport (CPH) has two passenger terminals, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. The airport's own airlines page puts most of the carriers in Terminal 2, and lists SAS, Air China, Delta Air Lines and TUIfly Nordic in Terminal 3. The metro station and the DSB ticket office are at the end of Terminal 3.

A footbridge of about 100 metres links the metro station with the security checkpoint of Terminal 2 and with the SAS Fast Track, so a traveller with hand luggage only can go straight from the train to the control. The airport also publishes its own map of the terminals, the gates, the passport control and the toilets, before and after security.

Airlines at Copenhagen Airport

The airport's airlines page lists every carrier it serves and the terminal it flies from. Four of them fly from Terminal 3: SAS, Air China, Delta Air Lines and TUIfly Nordic.

All the others fly from Terminal 2: Norwegian, Ryanair, easyJet, British Airways, Lufthansa, KLM, Air France, Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Air Canada, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Finnair, Swiss, LOT Polish Airlines, Aegean Airlines, Croatia Airlines, Icelandair, Wizz Air, Vueling, Transavia, TAP Portugal, Air Serbia, Air India, Indigo, El Al, American Airlines and Sunclass Airlines, among others.

Getting to and from Copenhagen Airport

The metro station is in the direct extension of Terminal 3. The Metro runs every 4 to 6 minutes during the day and the evening hours, and every 15 to 20 minutes at night, and it takes 15 minutes from Nørreport Station to the airport. The tickets are sold at the station and at the DSB ticket office in Terminal 3.

The car rental centre is a few minutes' walk from Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, with Avis, Sixt, Europcar, Hertz, Budget and Enterprise, and there is a SwipNgo rental point at Terminal 3, in parking P7A. Once you park, the free terminal buses take you to the terminals, and the taxis drop you at the door of them.

Copenhagen Airport with children

The airport's kids guide names the indoor play areas, with their airplanes, control tower and vehicles: one at the beginning of the gates B and the others by the gates E. There is also an outdoor playground with slides and a large wooden CPH plane, outside all the gates, where the children can run about before the flight.

Families with children under about six years old can use the family lane through the security checkpoint, marked with a small family icon on the floor after you scan your boarding pass. You can borrow a free stroller just after the security check and keep it until the aircraft, and the airport has a baby lounge and changing stations.

Plan your stop at Copenhagen Airport

The airport recommends arriving two hours before departure for flights inside the Schengen area and three hours before for flights outside it, and it warns that the waits at the security checkpoints are longer in the busiest periods. Keep your passport and any form you filled in on the plane with you from the aircraft door to the exit.

Check the airport's own site before you travel, because the airlines, the gates and the works change, and ask the embassy or the consulate of every country on your route which documents your family needs to enter it.
