The terminals at Hong Kong Airport
Hong Kong International Airport has two terminals:
- Terminal 1 is the main terminal, and the airline check-in counters of Terminal 2 moved there.
- Terminal 2 is the smaller terminal, next to Terminal 1.
The airport's own site tells the passengers who take the Airport Express to get off at Terminal 1, and it says where the taxi and the coach areas are now, so check the terminal on your ticket before you travel.
Getting to and from Hong Kong Airport
The Airport Express train is the fastest way into the city: it runs from Terminal 1 and stops at Tsing Yi, Kowloon and Hong Kong, where you can also check in at the in-town counter. The bus and the taxi counters are inside the terminal, and the coaches to the mainland and to Macao leave from the arrivals hall.
What happens when you arrive at HKG
Keep your passport and any form you filled in on the plane with you the whole way, from the aircraft door to the exit, and check the terminal on your ticket before you travel.
Hong Kong Airport with children
With in-town check-in at the Hong Kong and Kowloon stations, a family can leave the airport first and check in for the flight on the way back, so the children do not have to wait in the terminal for hours. Keep a snack and water within reach for the walk to the station.
Plan your stop at Hong Kong Airport
Terminals, airlines and arrival procedures change, so check with the airline and the airport's own site before you travel. And check with the embassy or consulate about the documents your family needs for the entry rules of every country on your route.
